My original idea was to represent Surveillance as tentacles of an octopus that entrap. I purchased a frozen octopus at Essex Street Market. I thawed it, shaped it to my liking, and refroze it. I applied a toxic mold-making material, intending to cast the octopus in two parts and then create a floating ice octopus. The fumes from the mold-making material made me so ill that I wrapped up the octopus in plastic bags and illegally dumped it in a trash can on Atlantic Ave. The photo remnants, however, intrigue me.
